Evil Wombat’s Lair is live!
23 02 2008After much umming and ahhing and trying to overcome my internet-phobia, The Evil Wombat’s Lair finally went live a couple of days ago. With over 200 hits so far (at least 3 of which aren’t spam!), I’m pretty happy with how things are going. After all this site is primarily intended as a personal online portfolio, but a bit of popularity never hurt anyone.
It looks like the Evil Wombat isn’t going to remain a one man show for very long at any rate; a few friends from my old course have expressed interest in becoming contributors, which is pretty cool as it means they’re being published by an outside source (something that’s very important in this industry), and it’s cool for me since it makes the site that much better. Once contributions get under way I’ll be sure to introduce everyone. Incidentally, if anyone would like to contribute in any way, shape or form to this site, just get in touch with me through the usual channels.
I haven’t been able to put up any new articles for a couple of days now due to a lack of time and story ideas. However I’ve decided to do a two-part story on the Anonymous group, and their Project Chanology. For those not in the know, Anonymous have “declared war” on the Church of Scientology, and have organised protests around the world against the Church, as well as some less-than-legal online harassment tactics.
What’s interesting about the group is that…well, they aren’t actually a group. There is no leadership, or organisation, or home base or anything; rather each person that wants to fight for the cause is told to do it in their own way. It’s an interesting and highly modern form of protest, one that would not have been remotely feasible even a decade ago.
The whole saga has interested me, and thus I’ve decided to complete the first half of the story (hopefully by tonight) on the background and history of the movement. The second half should be up in early march, and will hopefully occur after I have attended the local (Sydney) protest and attained some interviews and photos.
Apart from this of course, I’ll keep beavering away reviewing things; I’m pretty much going to go through my entire games, movies, music and tv series collections to give me something to do until I can afford new stuff, or until I get given it for free.
